REQUIREMENTS
There are several requirements to become a licensed real estate salesperson:
- At least 18 or older (19 in some states)
- Have legal US residency
- Complete required pre-licensing education
- Pass state real estate license examination
REAL ESTATE PRE-LICENSING
The pre-licensing requirements vary from state to state. Some states require 60 hours of in class room education, while others can be completed online. For state specific information it is best to talk to the local market center's Team Leader or follow links below to your state's real estate commission. INTERVIEW AND CHOSE A BROKERAGE
While getting your license, it is suggested you interview brokerages. Some states even require you to be sponsored by a brokerage in order to take your licensing test. When starting in real estate it is very important to pick a brokerage that will give you the support, training, and motivation to become successful. Almost 80% of agents fail in their first year due to lack of adequate training and support. Make sure any brokerage you interview has a robust training calendar.
Much of what is learned during the pre-licensing course doesn't help you grow and manage your business.
